Tyler Freeman Smith is a lanky documentary filmmaker from Tasmania, Australia, now freelancing in the UK and Europe.
His
work covers the breadth of documentary, from features and TV
broadcast, to short-form branded content and social. Tyler is known
for his empathetic approach to contributors, open communication with
collaborators, compelling visuals and narrative understanding. He is
often producing and directing documentary in the field, and shooting
stylised sequences and verité. More and more he finds himself
working with feature filmmakers as a story consultant, with projects
in development in New York, Warsaw, Australia and the UK.
Tyler’s
formal training is as an environmental scientist, and he is a current
fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He is currently in
late-development on his first feature length documentary, a
documentary-fantasy about bears set in Slovenia
